Associate Chartered Accountant, ACCA Subject Matter Expert at EY, Achievable

John Lotsa is an Associate Chartered Accountant and a passionate educationist who joined Achievable in November 2024 as a contractor to develop content for ACCA Applied Knowledge courses. He is based in Accra, the capital city of Ghana, where he currently works as an Audit Assistant at one of the Big Four accounting firms.

John, holding a Bachelor's degree in Accounting Education, is currently pursuing his Master of Commerce in Finance degree, both from the University of Cape Coast. His education has strengthened his accounting and finance knowledge, teaching skills, research capabilities, and proficiency in analytics tools like R-software, EViews, and Excel. He has also authored five potential research manuscripts in finance currently under review. Early in his career, John played a critical role at the Ministry of Education’s National Education Reform Secretariat under the Education Beyond Aid project (funded by UKAID), supporting the implementation of nationwide education reforms aimed at improving equity, accountability and learning outcomes at all levels. Subsequently, he worked as an Accountant at the Cape Coast regional directorate of Ghana TVET Service, helping establish internal controls, manage budgeting, and ensure financial regulatory compliance.

John founded JHavilah Consult, a center dedicated to developing accounting professionals as change agents. Through comprehensive tuition, course materials, and leveraging his extensive public and private sector experiences, he empowers students with industry-driven knowledge, professional ethics, and 21st-century skills to pass the exams and excel in their careers. John’s educational background and professional experience, coupled with his commitment to exemplifying integrity with excellence, align with Achievable’s mission of creating impactful and innovative learning tools.

When he is not working, he is exploring new ideas to foster growth in others. John is passionate about community service, empowers the youth, mentors students, and enjoys reading, swimming in his spare time. An interesting, fun fact about John: he is a soccer fan and loves to play football.
