After completing a B.A. in Applied Mathematics at Washington University in St. Louis, I spent a year teaching high-school chemistry and physics in an under-resourced charter school, where I learned to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable lessons. That skill set traveled with me through medical school at Mount Sinai—where I became a senior executive tutor—into internal-medicine residency, and now into my hematology-oncology fellowship.
