How Achievable helped me pass the SIE exam while balancing college and life

Kaleena Antcliff is a political science and finance student at Colorado State University, graduating in Spring of 2028.
When I decided to take the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam this summer, I had one goal in mind: to strengthen my knowledge of the securities industry while working toward my finance degree. I knew passing the SIE would not only deepen my understanding of financial markets but also help me stand out as I continue building a career in finance.
Like many students, though, I wasn't starting with years of industry experience. I had a basic understanding of some concepts, but there was still a lot to learn before I would be ready for exam day.
Starting from the basics
Before I began studying, I wasn't very familiar with the SIE exam itself. I understood some of the foundational concepts from my coursework, but topics like regulations, products, and market structure required much more in-depth study. I knew I needed a structured approach rather than trying to piece together study materials on my own. That's what led me to Achievable.
From the beginning, I appreciated how the course broke complex topics into smaller, digestible lessons. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by everything I needed to learn, I could simply focus on completing the next lesson and staying consistent.
Following a consistent study schedule
One of the biggest reasons I believe I was successful was maintaining a regular study routine. Achievable's personalized study plan helped me create a schedule that fit around my other responsibilities. I studied for about the same amount of time each day, generally at the same time. Having that consistency made it much easier to stay disciplined and avoid falling behind.
Rather than wondering what I should study next or how much progress I should be making, the study plan kept me on track and gave me a clear path toward my exam date. For anyone balancing school, work, internships, or other commitments, having that structure makes a huge difference. Preparing for the SIE can feel intimidating, but breaking it into manageable daily goals made the entire process much less stressful.
Practice questions made the difference
The feature that helped me the most was the amount of built-in practice in the course. After reading each section, I could immediately reinforce what I had learned by practicing with questions. This matched my learning style perfectly. I don't retain information simply by reading; I learn best by applying concepts and understanding why I got questions right or wrong.
Whenever I missed a question, I could review the explanation and immediately learn from my mistake. That constant cycle of learning, practicing, and reviewing helped the material stick much better than simply rereading the textbook. The practice exams also gave me a realistic idea of what to expect on test day and showed me where I still needed improvement before taking the real exam.
Knowing what to focus on
Another feature I found incredibly helpful was being able to identify my weaker areas. Instead of guessing which topics needed more review, Achievable tracked my progress and highlighted the sections where I needed additional practice. That allowed me to spend more time strengthening weaker subjects instead of reviewing material I already understood well.
I also found the dump sheet to be a great confidence booster before the exam. It served as an excellent last-minute review and helped reinforce many of the key concepts I wanted fresh in my mind as I headed into the testing center. By exam day, I felt much more prepared because I had a clear understanding of both my strengths and the topics that required extra attention.
If I could change one thing about my preparation, I would simply spend even more time doing practice questions. The more questions I completed, the more confident I became, and I think additional practice would have made me feel even better walking into the exam. That said, I passed the SIE exam using only Achievable's study materials.
Final thoughts
Preparing for the SIE exam while balancing college and other responsibilities isn't always easy, but having the right study system can make a huge difference. Achievable helped me stay organized with a personalized study schedule, provided practice questions that matched my learning style, and showed me exactly where I needed to improve before exam day. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the amount of material, I was able to study consistently, build confidence over time, and walk into the testing center knowing I was prepared.
If you're getting ready for the SIE exam, my biggest advice is simple: stay consistent, practice as many questions as you can, and trust the process. With the right preparation, passing the exam is absolutely achievable.
