When I first started working in the finance industry, I knew almost nothing about investments or the different parts of the business. I was excited to get my first job, but I also felt overwhelmed by the many terms and concepts I had never heard before. I quickly realized that if I wanted to grow in the industry and build a real career in finance, then I needed to take learning seriously. That is when I decided to study for the Securities Industry Essentials exam (SIE). I saw it as a way to build a strong foundation while also preparing myself for bigger opportunities in the future.

Real retention starts with understanding

At first, I was nervous because I had no real experience studying for professional exams. College classes were one thing, but this felt different because the SIE is connected to the real finance world and future jobs. I wanted to make sure I used a study program that would actually help me understand the material, rather than just memorize random facts. After researching online and reading reviews from other industry professionals, I found Achievable. What stood out to me right away was how they explained complex financial concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand way. Finance can feel very confusing when you first start because there are so many rules, products, and regulations to learn. Achievable made the content feel much less intimidating.

One of the biggest challenges for me was balancing studying with working full-time in investments. I was working around 40 hours a week, and after getting home, I still had to find the energy and motivation to study. There were definitely days when I felt tired and wanted to relax instead. Even though it was difficult, I knew the hard work would be worth it if I passed the exam. I had to stay disciplined and remind myself why I started in the first place. I wanted to invest in my future and prove to myself that I could handle the challenge.

Flexibility is the key to consistency

For about a month, I stayed very focused on my goal. I probably studied around 15 hours each week while still keeping up with my job responsibilities. That was not always easy, but I learned that when something is important, you can usually find the time for it. Sometimes I would study before work, and other times after my night shift. There were weekends when I spent extra hours reviewing practice questions and weak areas. Over time, I noticed the material was becoming easier to understand, and I was building confidence.

One thing that helped me the most was the study plan that Achievable created for me. Instead of guessing what to study each day, the program laid everything out in a simple, step-by-step format. That structure made a huge difference by keeping me organized and motivated. Without a study plan, it can be very hard to know whether you are actually making enough progress or if you are prepared to take the exam. The program helped me stay on track and gave me confidence that I was moving at the right pace. It also helped reduce stress because I did not feel lost or overwhelmed while planning everything myself.

Another thing I really liked about Achievable was how they explained topics in a way that felt practical and easy to remember. Some study programs can feel dry and boring, which makes it harder to stay focused. Achievable used simple explanations and practice questions that made learning more engaging. Instead of feeling like I was reading a textbook full of confusing words, I felt like I was actually understanding the concepts behind the material. That made a huge difference in helping me stay motivated during the process.

Passing the SIE gave me a huge sense of accomplishment

After all the studying and preparation, I finally took the SIE exam. I was nervous going into the testing center because I knew how much time and effort I had put into preparing. When I found out that I passed on my first try, it felt amazing. It gave me a huge sense of accomplishment because I had proven to myself that I could balance a full-time job while also preparing for a difficult professional exam. Passing the SIE also gave me more confidence about my future in the finance industry and made me excited about continuing to grow my career.

Overall, I would highly recommend Achievable to anyone who is preparing for a FINRA exam. The program made difficult material much easier to understand, and the structured study plan helped me stay disciplined and organized. Even while working full-time, I passed the SIE on my first attempt thanks to the support and structure the program provided. For anyone who feels nervous about taking a finance exam or balancing work with studying, I think Achievable is a great option that can make the process feel much more manageable.
